What we do

Secondhand furniture store with chairs, tables, artwork, and home decor items on shelves and the floor.
A row of old brick and painted houses on a quiet street with a lamppost in front.
People shopping at a market stall inside a community center or hall, with some customers using shopping carts or trolleys.

For many young people and individuals experiencing homelessness or hardship, the loss of stability, support and self-worth can be just as damaging as losing a home. Living without a safe place or community can leave people feeling isolated, invisible and unsure of how to rebuild their lives.

Temporary fixes may offer a bed for the night, but they rarely offer the security or support needed to create lasting change.

At Newmarket Open Door, we take a different approach. We provide safe housing, food support and opportunities to rebuild confidence within a supportive community. Our aim is to help people move beyond crisis, regain control of their lives, and build independent, sustainable futures.

Supported Accommodation

We offer young adults aged 18–24 safe, secure supported housing alongside tailored one-to-one guidance and practical life skills training. Our approach is about more than providing a bed, it’s about building confidence, independence and opportunity.

Foodbank & Pop-Up Shop

We believe no one should have to face hunger alone. Our Foodbank supports individuals and families in crisis, and our weekly Community Pop-Up Shop gives people affordable access to essential food and goods, helping to prevent hardship before it deepens.

Charity Superstore

Our charity superstore is at the heart of how we fund our work. Every donated item, every purchase, and every volunteer hour helps sustain our housing and community services. It’s a space that turns generosity into real, practical change.
